Categories: Educational / Institutional, Structural Masonry Design
Address: 8 Sandpiper Drive
Year: Sherwood Park
Date Completed: December 31, 2020
The Ecole Pere Kenneth Kearns school modernization project consisted of a new gymnasium addition, new washroom areas, interior renovation work and a new brick feature wall at the school entrance. 30cm and 25cm normal weight block was used throughout the load bearing gymnasium addition. 20cm and 15cm block was used through out the new washroom locations and interior renovation work to help update the schools new floor plan and classroom layouts. The exterior of the new gymnasium was finished with an alternating pattern of 4″ Norman size Interstate brick in Ash and Platinum colours to help create an appealing look that complements older existing brick work that still remained on parts of the exterior. The new brick feature wall located at the school entrance included 7 different brick colours in block patterns surrounded by exterior windows and incorporated the catholic school cross.
