River Park Residence

Brick always enhances traditional forms. This home located across from a very busy dog park in Calgary features a very traditional vernacular. A rusticated large format stone base, topped with a sawn cap, a predominately brick exterior above, then accented with cedar shingles. All exterior materials are present in many of Calgary’s early residences.

The colour of brick was also chosen to reflect Calgary’s early heritage. The craftmanship of the trades is clearly evident throughout. The stone perimeter of the large front porch creates a protected area to view the busy park across the street and the city view beyond. Large brick chimneys, accent with stone, bookend the home.

The rear yard is enhanced with a masonry fireplace located on the detached garage contributing to the view from within the home while adding warmth to the amenity area.
