Sophisticated and luxurious, The Residences of King Edward is a multi-unit residential complex featuring natural sandstone in the heart of Marda Loop, inner city Calgary.
Rockwood Custom Homes designed The Residences of King Eddy in the coursed ashlar style to pay homage to the former King Edward School (now C-Space) located just to the east. The school was one of 19 natural sandstone schools built in Calgary between 1894 and 1914. The Residences’ design called for a mix of split faced stone and smooth faced (sawn) stone. Nearly 10,000 square feet of custom sandstone was used to complete the project. We had discussed stone options prior to the builder making the final decision to proceed with Cleveland sandstone.
The efforts made by Bob Driedger, and the White Cap team made it a simple decision, and the result exceeded expectations.
Our favourite aspect is the front entrance cornice that required over 25,000lbs of custom carved stone to be delicately placed. The entire LMent team is proud to have had the privilege of being a part of this beautiful building.
