Revillon Boardwalk Exterior
Categories: Restoration
Address: 10310-102 Avenue
Year: Edmonton
Date Completed: October 31, 2023
This project involved removing lead paint to expose the original historical masonry and ghost signs on the exterior façade of two adjoining buildings, the Revillon Building and Boardwalk Building. This brick was relatively soft, requiring several concealed test strips of various methods to determine proper conservation of the brick face, and of the ghost signs on the east and south elevations. Following paint removal, 14,000 square feet of brick was re-pointed. Other work included various tyndall stone band patching on the east side of the building, as well as rebuilding structural arches on the south interior and remounting / pinning of limestone header stones on the exterior of the building. Fourteen major limestone dutchmen repairs were completed on the south and west portions of the building.
